David Blakey died on Thursday, June 11, on the age of 82.

He served as West Mercia’s Chief Constable from 1991 till 1999, retiring after 35 years within the police drive.

Mr Blakey started his profession with Durham County Constabulary in 1960, advancing to the rank of superintendent, earlier than transferring to Northumbria Police.

Between stints at West Mercia police, he additionally served with Leicestershire Police.

After retirement, Mr Blakey grew to become an inspector with Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary from 1999 to 2004.

He additionally served as Deputy Lieutenant of Worcestershire from 1999 to 2018.

In 1993, he was awarded the Queen’s Police Medal (QPM), and in 1998, he was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE).
